As the best friends of Tapio, we felt that we have to pay a visit in Sarphatistraat. We arrived on October 31st to the central station with our backpacks and after we found Tapio from there, he took us immediately to the Red Light District. First things first, of course… After that we walked to our new home, Sarphatistraat 153G, where we met Tapio’s roomie Ben Estiller de Cataluña (also known as Hector). First night we wandered around the city desperately searching for a bar that didn’t close “in 15 minutes”.
The next day we rented some bikes and cycled around the city. We cycled so much that actually one of us fell down and passed out for a moment. Fortunately he was OK and soon we were ready to hit the big Halloween party. I really don’t remember anything of it though…
On the third day we found the true greatness of Amsterdam: cycling. We cycled around and around, especially in Vondelpark and after that we followed our guide back to Sarphatistraat. It was by far the slowest bike tour ever. And funniest. The next day we took a bike trip to the countryside and saw a lot of cows and horses and sheep etc. It was fine but after that we decided to hit the red lights again. We also visited some local bars and partied till dawn like crazy party animals.
On Sunday we got guilty conscience from all the red lights so we decided to visit the library and take a boat trip around the city. After that we were ready to go into the Red Light District again. On Monday, the final day, we visited the Rijksmuseum which was surprisingly different from the Red Light District in a negative way. But it was ok I guess. Now we have packed our packs and ready to eat our meal that Hector prepared for us and leave. We really enjoyed staying in Tapio and Hector ’s room (6 guys in a small room) and everything has been great. Big thanks to Tapio and Hector!!
